What to Expect From a Consultation
A consultation with Keystone Legal is a focused, strategic session. You will leave with a clear understanding of your legal position, your options, and what the next steps would involve. Consultations are conducted by Naomi Iskra directly.
Before a booking is confirmed, the firm completes a conflict of interest check. Once your booking is confirmed, you are welcome to send documents or background ahead of time, and the lawyer will review them before you meet so the consultation is built around your matter.
During the consultation, the lawyer will review the relevant facts, ask questions to clarify the situation, and identify the legal issues that may be involved. Clients may also discuss goals, concerns, and any documents relevant to the matter.
The consultation may include preliminary legal guidance regarding possible strategies, timelines, and next steps. In some cases, additional review or analysis may be required before specific legal recommendations can be provided.
For harassment and intimate partner violence matters, the consultation includes a review of any records you have, such as messages, a timeline of events, and witness details, along with a candid assessment of the options, from a cease and desist letter or protective order through to a civil claim. If you are not in a safe situation, tell us at booking and the consultation will be arranged accordingly.
Most consultations are conducted by secure videoconference, allowing clients to participate from their home or workplace without the need for travel. Clients who prefer to meet in person can do so in Cochrane.
Following the consultation, clients may choose to proceed with representation, request additional legal work, or simply use the consultation as an opportunity to better understand their legal position.
